What’s In a Name? Holy, holy, holy.
Officially, our parish uses three names (more appropriately, translations) of the Triune God namely; Santisima Trinidad (sometimes spelled as Santissima), Most Holy Trinity, and Banal na Santatlo. Which name creates a connecting bridge, or is it a window, between the divine patron and the human devotee? Which name is whispered in prayer and supplication to the Triune God? Which name is sung in acclamation and thanksgiving by the parishioners of Balic-balic? Who knows?
But the tricycle driver knows which name refers to the Holy Trinity. Parishioners riding the tricycle going to the parish office can be overheard saying to the driver “To Holy please.” An almost deaf driver might require the passenger to repeat “Holy” three times.
In the end, does it really matter which one? Why just One, why not all Three?
