The Brave and the Few: Trinitarian Churches in the Philippines

Thirteen churches in the Philippines, of which only four are in the Metro-Manila area, bravely proclaim the Holy Trinity as their patron. The Most Holy Trinity Parish of Balic-balic, Manila is the oldest church in Manila with the Trinity as the patron (1932). Outside of Manila, the Most Holy Trinity Parish of Ragay, Camarines Sur (1753) has the distinction. How are these churches responding to the challenge of enhancing Trinitarian devotion and spirituality in a land more attuned to glitterring Marian festivals, feverish Sto. Nino dances, and penitent Good Friday processions? Is it time for all Trinitarian churches in the Philippines to gather as one community of the brave and the few?
