Give Birth to Joy
Lord, how often have we forgotten that you
chose to be human so that we could be divine?
Lord, how often have we forgotten how you
went down so that we could climb up?
Lord, how often have we forgotten that you chose
to cloth yourself with our decaying flesh and blood?
You have chosen to walk the very dirt
and dust beneath our feet.
You have chosen to be born in the lowest of all places.
You have chosen to be human in the silence of the night.
All creatures of innocence and beauty
rejoice in the good news of that silent night.
Yes, sometimes our heart no longer sings
with jubilation and ecstacy.
Yes, our soul no longer jumps with happiness.
Let us gaze at your birthplace
so that we may remember.
Make us an instrument of Trinitarian joy!
Lord grant us the grace to bring joy
to others in your Triune name.
