Dr. Jose Rizal Portrait – Masonic File

The archives “Centro Documental de la Memoria Historia” contains a document entitled “Retrato de Jose Rizal” which contains a photograph  retouched by pencil  (measuring 410x277mm) and a one page leaflet printed apparently 16 years after the death of Dr. Jose Rizal. This particular image of Rizal seem less “handsome” that other more familiar or iconic images of Rizal. At best, the image seems to be less heroic showing a melancholic and sad aspect of the hero.
